“Crunchy expressionism” formed the basis for reconsideration of ground plane elements site-wide. The scope included bamboo gardens for five ground floor and five upper level roof terraces, as well as a public car parking garden. The car ‘park’, planted with Lemon Scented Gums and a rural boundary hedge of Guelder Roses underplanted with native grasses is bordered by zig zag zipper edge of insitu concrete creating an informal edge to a shared public car ‘park’.
2001 RAIA State Residential (Multiple) Architecture Award
“The combination of garden and carpark to the west was pleasing in its directness and simplicity, and in is evident role as a casual meeting place for the occupants. The space had a clear generosity that indicated a real alternative to the quarter acre or the villa unit, and the project seemed alive to the potentials of changing urban form and density.” RAIA Award Citation
